In this unit, you will learn how to write effective written feedback reports for aptitude tests, focusing on communicating results to both candidates and decision makers. You will discover how to explain test purposes, interpret scores clearly, offer development advice, and maintain confidentiality. The importance of using straightforward language, providing context for scores, and adhering to professional and ethical standards is also highlighted.

After this talk, you will:

• Know how to write clear and appropriate written feedback reports for aptitude tests.

• Understand the difference between feedback aimed at decision makers and feedback for candidates.

• Be able to justify the use of particular tests by linking them to job requirements through job analysis.

• Know the importance of confidentiality and how results should only be shared in interpreted form.

• Understand how to give feedback using percentiles and standard scores, including how to explain these to avoid confusion.

• Be aware of how to provide balanced feedback, avoiding overly negative or confusing wording.

• Recognise the limits of psychometric tests and the need to use them as only part of the selection process.

• Know how to offer developmental advice based on test results, regardless of performance level.

• Be aware of the importance of destroying test results after the set period and reminding recipients of the shelf life of results.

• Understand the value of making yourself available for clarification if the recipient has questions about the report.

• Be able to adapt the wording and content of reports to suit your audience while maintaining professional standards.
